Benedict Burgess Batteric III, also known as the Gemcutter, is a character, appearing in Infinity Blade III.
Description[]
Benedict is a gemcutter and an artisan who formerly worked for House Ix, combining art with technology to create enhancement gems for weaponry and other equipment.[verification needed]
History[]
Benedict worked for Therin at his Pit arena, stationed outside where he admitted people entry, with payment to be received in gems. Siris approached Benedict, seeking to enter the arena. Benedict stated that a payment of gems would be necessary for entry to fight, leading Siris to perform a downward stab through the wooden table which Benedict stood behind. Benedict then disregarded the need for payment, allowing Siris to proceed into the arena. After Siris defeated Therin, Benedict entered the arena to observe that his former employer was deceased. Siris, deducing that Benedict was a gemcutter who might be able to help the Rebellion, prompted Benedict to join him. Benedict deduced that Siris was looking for the Worker of Secrets, and turned him down before scampering away.
Siris encountered Benedict again in the Vault of Tears, with a number of gems atop a large stone. Siris reiterated his previous offer that Benedict might join him and the Rebellion. Benedict enquired what he might be paid in exchange for his services, Siris responding "freedom", to which Benedict replied "Freedom is cheap. Now luxury is hard to come by". Annoyed, Siris demanded that Benedict leaves his castle. Benedict went to leave, before quickly returning to grab a gem from atop the stone and then fled.
Isa encountered Benedict at the Pinnacle Monastery where he was in a room inspecting gems on a table. Isa approached Benedict, asking who he was, with Benedict enthusiastically introducing himself. Asking Benedict if he would work for her, he readily accepted the offer, and was then instructed to wait outside.
Benedict travelled with Isa to the Hideout, where he found himself awkwardly faced with Siris again. Here he began working as a gemcutter for the Rebellion, and would later join the celebration after the Worker's defeat, continuing to express his fondness for Isa.
Gameplay[]
The Gemcutter is encountered in Act III (Siris), in Act IV (Siris) and in Act IV (Isa). Upon completing the latter, the Gemcutter is recruited and remains at the Hideout, unlocking the ability to forge gems. After the game is completed and a new cycle begins, he remains active at the Hideout and gems can continue to be forged, while his scenes leading to his recruitment will replay.
Trivia[]
- Even if Act IV (Isa) is completed ahead of Act IV (Siris), the Gemcutter will still appear in Act IV (Siris) and exchange dialogue as if he has yet to be recruited.
- He is a massive Simp for Isa.
