The Dark Knight is a Large Titan serving as the God King's personal champion and his last guard in the standard bloodline. He wields a black Aeternum and Aegis. If the player is defeated by the Dark Knight in the first tutorial battle (that is not in New Game+) and presses "restart castle", they will begin at Bloodline -1, activating the secret Negative Bloodlines mode.

Location Infinity Blade I[]

The Dark Knight can only be encountered in The Throne Room and on round 15 of survival mode.

Infinity Blade II[]

The Dark Knight now appears as a normal enemy in Infinity Blade II, commonly found at the peak of the Vault of Tears. While he doesn't accompany Raidriar in the final battle at Saydhi's Estate, he does have a minor appearance in the beginning of Infinity Blade II, where he can be seen standing by Raidriar and hands Raidriar the Infinity Blade. His voice was also changed to that of a Marrow Fiend.

Lore (Provided by the IGN's guide)[]

Shrouded in mystery, the Dark Knight is the God-King’s most feared servant. His towering blackened armor houses a dead soul, a being of pure malice and hatred. Wherever the Dark Knight goes, death follows. Entire armies have crumbled before his blade, and those who survive speak of a figure with no mercy, no humanity. His cold, hollow voice echoes from his helm, a sound that heralds death. He is the God-King’s right hand, a force of destruction that none have yet defeated.

Combat Infinity Blade I and II[]

The Dark Knight is a slow moving Large Enemy with a very similar fighting style to other large enemies. The Dark Knight's most dangerous trait is his Shields bashes, which the Dark Knight does more than/equal to any other enemy in Infinity Blade I, and can go right through your Shields. The Dark Knight is also unique in the fact that he can only be fought in one location in Infinity Blade I. However overall, the Dark Knight has no truly unique traits or abilities. This is amplified in Infinity Blade II, where he is essentially just a normal titian.

Stepbacks Infinity Blade I and II[]

The Dark Knight has three stepbacks.

Shield Charge Slash

TheDarkKnight-Stepback-C-IB1

Analysis

In this stepback, the Dark Knight bashes together his sword and shield as he moves back a few steps. He rapidly charges the center for a Shields bash before delivering a wide slash from the left and then from the right.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways, the most optimal is to avoid the shield bash by dodging in any direction, than dodge to the left to avoid the first slash, and than parry the final attack to get a parry break. The parry break will give you the most amount of time to strike back. (Note: In IB1, only parrying the FINAL attack will allow you attack and interrupt a Stepback, so make sure you parry the final swing and not either of the ones before). However this could potentially be difficult because the window to parry the final attack is small. So for a safer option, you can press the stab icon that appears on the Paladin's chest after the shield bash. Taking it will result in less damage than a parry break, but is safer as you skip the slash attacks. Shielding is not advisable here, as Dark Knight's Shields bash can go through your guard, so if you are going to Shields, make sure that you time it well, and have a corresponding elemental defense Shield defense shield so The Dark Knight doesn't break your blocks.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways. The most optimal is dodge to either the left or right, than duck twice by using Dual Weapons to avoid all attacks. A dodge break with Dual weapons will give you the most amount of time to strike back. Alternatively, if you are using a Heavy Weapon, the most optimal move to center block the shield bash, than parry the first swing from the left, which will give you a parry break and will save shield points. Shielding with a Light Weapon is not advisable here, as the shield bash can go through the guard of a Light Weapon. So if you are going to Shield, only do it for the attacks after the first one, and make sure you have a corresponding elemental defense defense Shield or Gem so Dark Knight does not damage you though your guard.

Shield Charge Slash 2

TheDarkKnight-Stepback-B-IB1

Analysis

In this stepback, the Dark Knight backs up slightly, before delivering a Shields bash to the center, following up with a Shields bash from the right, and a slash from the left.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways, the most optimal is to dodge in any direction to avoid the Shield bash, then dodge to the right to avoid the second Shields bash, and than parry the final attack by swiping to the right. The parry break will give you the most amount of time to strike back. (Note: In IB1, only parrying the FINAL attack will allow you attack and interrupt a Stepback, so make sure you parry the final swing and not the first one) It's worth noting that a stab icon will appear on The Dark Knight's side after the second shield bash. However, since stab breaks equate to less damage than parry breaks it is not recommended you pursue the stab break unless there is no time to parry the final attack. Shielding is not advisable here, as both of Dark Knight's Shields bash's can go through your guard, so if you are going to Shield, make sure that you only do it for the final slash, and have a corresponding elemental defense Shield (if he has elemental attacks), so the Dark Knight doesn't break your blocks.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways, the most optimal is to dodge to the left or right to avoid the Shield bash, then duck twice to avoid the follow up attack. A dodge break with dual weapons will give you the most amount of time to attack back. Alternatively, if one is using a Heavy Weapon, the most optimal play is to center block the first shield bash, block to the right to avoid the second shield bash, and than parry the final attack by swiping to the right. This will conserve precious shield points and give a larger attack window than a block break. It's worth noting that a stab/slash icon will appear on The Dark Knight's side after the second shield bash. However, since stab/slash breaks equate to less damage than parry breaks it is not recommended you pursue the stab break unless there is no time to parry the final attack. Shielding with a Light Weapon is not advisable here, as both of Dark Knight's Shields bash's can go through your the guard of a Light Weapon. So if you are going to Shield, make sure that you only do it for the final slash, and have a corresponding elemental defense Shield or Gem (if he has elemental attacks), so the Dark Knight doesn't break your blocks.

Shield charge Slash 3

TheDarkKnight-Stepback-A-IB1

Analysis

In this stepback, the Dark Knight backs up slightly, before delivering a Shields bash to the center, following up with a slash from the right, and an overhead slash towards the center.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways. One of the ways is to dodge in any direction to avoid the shield bash, than block to avoid the slash from the right, and than parry the final downward slash. In Infinity Blade I, a parry break will give you the most amount of time to strike back. (Note: In IB1, only parrying the FINAL attack will allow you attack and interrupt a Stepback, so make sure you parry the final swing and not the first one) However, you do need to block the second attack and potentially take damage when you do this. So a safer option is to dodge to the left or right, than parry the attack from the right. However doing this will not allow you to attack back, it will simply end the Stepback, so it is advisable to only do this when low on Health. It's worth noting that after the final downward slash, a Stab icon will appear on the Dark Knight's face, this should only be pressed if you triggered a Dodge or Block Break from the final hit, as a Stab Break grants more damage than either. Shielding fully is not advisable here, as Dark Knight Shields bash can go through your guard, so if you are going to Shield, that you only use it on attacks after the shield bash, and have corresponding elemental defense (if he has elemental attacks), so Dark Knight doesn't break your blocks.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways. The most optimal is to dodge to the left or right to avoid the charge, than duckto avoid the left swing, than dodge to left or right to avoid the downward swing. A dodge break will give you the most amount of time to strike back, however the only way to fully dodge is to use Dual Weapons. You can achieve a dodge break with Light Weapons but you will be forced to block the right swing. If you are using a heavy weapon, than blocking to the center to avoid the charge, and than parrying the follow up swing from the right is the most optimal way to avoid the Stepback. Shielding with a light weapon most be used sparingly here, as Dark Knight charge can go through the guard of a light weapons shield, so if you are going to Shield, make sure that you use it only on the attacks after the shield bash, and have a corresponding elemental defense (if he has elemental attacks), so Dark Night doesn't break your blocks.

Combat tips Infinity Blade I and II[]

The Dark Knight, despite being played up as a legendary champion, does not significantly differ from any other Large Titans in Infinity Blade I and II. The only thing to really look out for are his charge and Shields bashes, which can do significant damage, but The Dark Knight is slow enough that you can easily parry/block/dodge out of all of his attacks.

Infinity Blade III[]

The Dark Knight returns yet again in Infinity Blade III but is much more unique then his past appearances. Mainly due to the fact that he is now a Miniboss, this grants him access to numerus special abilities, which include being able to send you back to the Hideout upon defeat, having access to Spectrum Defense after The Worker has been defeated, and having a Boss Titan perk after level 1000. However, his level will remain lower than other titans, making him rather fragile early on. Which was possibly implemented as way to compensate for his new abilities. The Dark Knight cannot be disarmed; however, he can use different weapons. But these are purely aesthetic and don't change his fighting style. The Dark Knights voice was changed as to that of the Wretched Hob.

Trivia[]

  • In the intro tutorial for Infinity Blade I, once the player gets the Dark Knight's health below a certain point to activate the health trigger, the cinematic with the God King will play. If the player is able to get the Dark Knight dramatically further below that health trigger (about 50 hit points left or less) the game will glitch and the God King cinematic will not play, freezing on a close up of the Dark Knight.
